While mobile applications continue their crazy growth, the most renowned App company, a benchmark in analytics, conducted the survey. They have collected a wealth of data to learn more about the differences in use across countries, the most popular types of applications, and the growth prospects of the sector.
Around the world, more and more mobile apps are being used, and more and more time is spent on smartphone. On an average, nearly 70% of mobile users install at least one new application per month on their phone, and its believed that they already have more than one hundred applications. The most “addictive” users spend more than four hours a day on their mobile. Shopping a new mobile often is growing exponentially in South Korea, India and Japan.
THE INDIAN CASE
In India, we use more and more smartphones. The average duration of use is only two hour and a half per day, against more than four hours for South Korea. There is a huge rise in terms of new applications downloaded per month, and number of applications installed. Indians thus open 9 applications per day, and more than 30 different applications per month. They are not yet a big fan of online shopping, which they spend only 3 hours each month.
THE MOST DOWNLOADED APPS
At the forefront of the most downloaded and used apps are Facebook and its services, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. The games are also very fit, and represent a major source of revenue, in the form of subscriptions, micro-transactions and purchases. Indians are also keen on dating apps like tinder and streaming apps like Netflix.
Mobile applications will continue their progression; the market, valued at 540 million dollars in India in 2016, reached 770 million dollars in 2017. However, it is in the emerging countries that mobile growth should be the most impressive. Messaging, social networking and especially gaming applications continue to dominate our smartphones, while mobile shopping is likely to gain ground.
