Duplicate Contents:
Search engines will always look for new updates in the site. Duplicate contents or pages or URLs make no sense in ranking the keywords in search engines. Unfortunately, most of the websites using CMS or ecommerce open source software will create multiple URLs with the same content on the WebPages.

Block some of the URLs from indexing through robots.txt file or through Meta robots tag or through 301 redirect to permanently redirect the duplicate URL to permanent URL. Don’t allow search engines to prefer the URL to be indexed, because it may not be the one you’re targeting. Try to avoid duplicate contents, pages and URLs in a website. The canonical attribute on the link tag helps search engines to determine which URL is to be indexed.

Also, be sure that every page on the site has unique content. Many ecommerce website will have product info and each differs with its product size with similar contents.

Canonical URL & Duplicated Contents
Canonical URLs, the fancy way of saying multiple URLs will also leads to the same page. For example: if your home page is accessed as,

The second URL gives exact information about the content to be displayed on the webpage to the user. It is a user friendly & search engine friendly URL.

Search engines can crawl all dynamic URLs easily, but too many parameters with session IDs will trip them. Try to limit the parameters in a URL, as it cause crawling issued.

In the second URL, you can find that keyword stuffing has been made to rank and index the website easily.

Search engines are better at crawling text than flash, JavaScript and other images. Avoid flash, JavaScript and try to use HTML coding.

Speed matters
